In 2026 several stakeholder events, international conferences and research projects are taking place to promote knowledge and literacy on soils.

Horizon Europe info days - EU missions online from 20-21st January 2026
FORECOMON - 13th Forest Ecosysem Monitoring Conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia from 04-06th May 2026
1st International Conference on Land Degradation and Restoration in Valencia, Spain from 20-26th July 2026
Soils for Europe conference in Coimbra, Portugal from 07-11th September 2026
Under the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” several research projects are running:

- EU research programmes: Co-creating solutions for soil health in Living Labs.
- SOILL Startup: Foster a network of healthy Living Labs and Lighthouses across Europe, facilitate collaborations and support knowledge exchange. The Startup follows the NATII00Ns program, ended 2024 and aimed at empowering stakeholders to participate in regional soil health Living Labs.
- SOLO (Soils4Europe): Thinktanks for soil research and innovation in several fields: Land degradation, SOC, Soil sealing, Pesticides, Erosion, Soil structure, EU global footprint, Soil literacy, Soil biodiversity.
- SpongeWorks: Implementation of nature-based solutions for water retention and climate resilience in Euorpe through ad acning scientific knowledge and implementing nature-based solutions and management instruments.
